S.D.P. – Slump, Dump, Pump

This technique is one of my signature tools for instant stress release and emotional regulation—especially when meditation feels like too much or you only have a few minutes between back-to-back meetings.

S.D.P. stands for Slump, Dump, and Pump, and it’s designed to shift your body from the sympathetic (stress) state to the parasympathetic (rest and digest) state—in under 3 minutes.

Here’s how it works:

  • Slump: Sit in a relaxed, slouched position. No straight spine, no forced posture. Let your body melt into the chair. Take a deep breath, and with every exhale, allow yourself to physically and mentally let go—like a sack of potatoes sinking into the earth.
  • Dump: Now, mentally dump all the thoughts, frustrations, and negativity from your mind—just like taking the trash out. Visualize emptying your brain into a bin. Whether it’s a bad email, a frustrating call, or internal doubt—dump it.
  • Pump: Once your mental slate is clean, fill it with something good. A memory, a moment of gratitude, a positive affirmation, or simply something you’re looking forward to.

This technique works wherever you are—on a flight, in your car’s backseat, between meetings, or even during a lunch break. One client recently told us, “After I finished the S.D.P. exercise, my mind just felt lighter the entire day.”

Breathwork & Micro-Meditations
