Wholesome and protein rich Sattu Green peas soup – that’s nourishing, easy to digest and inherently cooling at the same time, thanks to Sattu. It makes a great side dish to go with your meals. Suitable for adults, seniors and kids and especially those on a liquid food diet. If fresh green peas aren’t available, you can use organic frozen ones. Just sprinkle some fresh lemon juice over your soup once prepared so you get the benefit of Vitamin C too, that actually gets lost due to preservation process

Green Peas – 1 cup (semi boiled)
Sattu (roasted gram flour) – 1 tbsp
Water – 4 cups
Freshly cracked black pepper – 1/4 tsp
Cumin (jeera) powder – 1/2 tsp
Ginger- garlic paste – 1/4 tsp
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Lime juice – 1 tsp
Asafoetida (hing) – a pinch
Pink himalayan salt – to taste
Ghee – 2 teaspoon (hormone free – pure A2 ghee)
Method :
- Blend the semi-boiled peas into a puree.
- Heat a pan, add ghee and as the ghee heats – add the pureed peas, a pinch of turmeric powder, ginger- garlic paste, asafoetida and saute .
- Simultaneously, mix sattu flour in 4 cups of water and stir well to avoid lumps.
- Add the Sattu mix, pepper powder, salt and cumin powder to the pan and mix well.
- Let it cook on medium flame till the raw smell goes with occasional stirring.
- Just before serving add lime juice for some tang.
Wholesome and nourishing sattu peas soup is ready !
Notes :
- Adding ginger & garlic to the soup will enhance taste and aid in digestion too.
- A cup of green pea soup provides nearly 5 gm of dietary fibre. Dietary fiber has a laxative effect and promotes smooth bowel movements.
- Prefer fresh green peas, but frozen would work too.
- Peas soup provide 35 gms of magnesium per cup .
- Sattu has a high amount of dietary fiber too.
- Both sattu and peas are great sources of vegetarian protein.
