Ragi Chocolate Sheera

Ragi or finger millet originated in Africa and has been cultivated for many thousands of years in Africa. Ragi is rich in protein and is a perfect protein source for vegetarians. It has the highest amount of calcium and potassium amongst millets and is also a great source of iron making it beneficial for individuals with low haemoglobin levels. It is low in fat and is gluten free, making it easy to digest. Ragi halwa is a nutritious preparation made of the powerful ingredients and had can be relished by tiny tastebuds as well as seniors too.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 tbsp Ragi/Finger millet rawa
  • ½ tbsp Sattu
  • 1 tbsp Unsweetened raw cacao powder
  • 1 tbsp Ghee
  • ¼ cup Water
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp Jaggery powder

Equipment

  • Cooking pan/kashi
  • Ladle

Method
 

  1. Take ghee in a pan and heat it.
  2. Add ragi rawa, sattu and cacao powder.
  3. Sauté till its aromatic.
  4. Add water and cook till it's firm.
  5. Add vanilla extract.
  6. Mix it properly.
  7. Switch off the gas.
  8. Add jaggery powder.
  9. Mix it till jaggery powder dissolves.
  10. Garnish it with chopped nuts as per choice. (Note - you can use milk instead of water. In that case, use 2-3 tbsp jaggery powder.)
  11. Add jaggery powder only after you switch off the gas.

Notes
